I am planning a remake of 2011's sequel to the Star Trek reboot.

Maybe they can get Queen + Adam Lambert to do the soundtrack.

A pity the script doesn't sound very promising, as Highlander is one of those concepts that could absolutely stand a bit of Batman Begins-style reinvention.

Jack Black really ought to be cast as the Kurgen - we all know it makes sense.

Right. So. It isn't enough that every single iteration of Highlander (three sequels, three TV series) that has been made since the original movie has been full of suck - they now want to retcon the original movie into sucking as well.

Right.

I'm gonna go watch the original movie now

Big fan of the first TV series here. In some ways it made better use of its concept than even the first movie did.

I hated all the sequels, but really dug the series, specifically from season 2 on, after they introduced the Watchers.

Shame the Highlander movies with Adrian Paul turned out to be as bad as they did. His portrayal of Duncan MacLeod was spot on and in many ways more rich and layered than Connor.

But in the end, there can be only one, and for me, it's the first one.

I have to say, the thought of a Highlander remake worries me on so many levels. It's in my top ten films of all time, flaws and all.

I dunno.

The big thing we learn in that Highlander TV series is, if you are a friend of Duncan Macleod,
Spoiler: show
HE WILL KILL YOU DEAD!!

;)

It did have some fun ideas, and kept threatening to be a good show...but it just never got there. YMMV.

On the plus side, it is better than the Highlander: the Raven series.
Or that animated piece of crap. One of the women who models for me once in a while is a big fan of the animated series [shudder] and has never seen any other version. I had to explain to her why Ramirez had a faux Scottish accent

I think it got there frequently, just not consistently. There were some stellar episodes throughout the series that still hold up really well.

And it was certainly truer to the core concept and themes of the original film than any of the sequels managed to be.

That said, if we are forced to accept a remake, who do you think would be a good Connor MacLeod?

Damned if I can think of anyone.

The first few seasons were so-so, but it turned into a good show. It's a shame the show's image is now tarnished by the bad Sci-Fi Channel movies they forced Adrian Paul to make... :ohno:

IAWCP. This movie doesn't need a remake, leave it alone.

The creator of The Highlander, Gregory Widen, seems to have had nothing to do with any of it after the original movie.
He went on toi create The Prophesy, about a war of Angels on Earth and in Heaven.
Both Highlander and Prophesy seemed to have a lot of Roman Catholicism in them.
Anybody else see that, or is it just my RC eyes seeing what they want to?
