I don't know if I'd call this "fixing" Wonder Woman, but the thing DC could do better to market her is play up the princess angle. Disney sells a ton of stuff based on their fairy tale princesses. They could do the same thing with Wonder Woman.
I don't think you can "fix" Wonder Woman. There have been some fantastic runs over the years, and nothing pushes the book to the top. The character just has a limited appeal.
Creative team: Christos Gage and Doug Mahnke (two Greeks for our Greek heroine).
Stories: harkening back to the Perez days (ie: lots of mythology: centaurs, gorgons, giants, etc) but with a mix iof the TV show (bring back Diana Prince like Heinberg did and have her part of a government agency).
If you want to make Wonder Woman work today, drop all the mythology except as the source of her powers, drop all the "alone in Man's World" stuff, play her like a modern version of what she was in the original Justice League — the first woman to break into the boys' club of superheroes. Otherwise you have a permanent second-stringer where you should have a flagship character.
I'd like to see her used the way Byrne seemed to want to use her (but didn't). Make it a big scale action book, bulk up the Rogues' Gallery, and use the mythology as a source for stories, but keep most of the action on Earth. And maybe keep the political stuff to her secret identity.
My answer will be explained in more detail in the "What would Darin do?" thread if anyone asks the question there. Suffice it to say, I would try to look at what makes other female superheroes work so well and infuse as much of those qualities into WW as I could.
On a related note: I can remember a few creative teams back when the writer of the title proclaimed that his Wonder Woman "will piss you off." To me, that is not a sales-oriented mentality. A Wonder Woman who is trying to be controversial just doesnt work today in my view, whether it's her getting tied up and spanked every issue like she did early in her stories, or her going on a nationwide book tour and spouting modern feminist movement playbook material. That's not what I would buy a superlady comic book for.

If only she WERE a second-string character. Then DC might allow their writers room to play with and take CHANCES with the characters. No way are they ever going to make Wonder Woman a recovering alcoholic, like Ms. Marvel. No way are they going to make her a former terrorist like Spider-Woman. No way would they have her hitting on Lobo or other heroes like She-Hulk has recently done. D.C. is too concerned with Wonder Woman's "image" and "marketablility" than they are for her as a CHARACTER.
