Mentioned this in the video forum here, but the highlight of the first episode of the Cosmos reboot was the special guest appearance by Ghost.

Heard some Ghost news on XM today. Ghost is about to start working on their third album, but...

The reign of Papa Emeritus II is over. Ghost is looking for a new frontman.

But, of course, it's going to be the same singer. Just a new character.

I love this band.

One of the Nameless Ghouls of Ghost has dismissed the split petition created by haters of the band, saying they "could not care less" about it.

Over 1300 people have added their name to an online campaign launched last week, which labelled the Swedish outfit a "watered-down Blue Oyster Cult" and demanded they end their career. That resulted in the creation of a counter-petition, which has secured over 1400 signatures.

But the Nameless Ghoul tells Radio Futuro (via Blabbermouth): "I could not care less. It's completely, completely stupid. There is no petition in the world that can make us change. Why would we?

"I was just laughing, then we went on to the next page of our lives. These people don't realise that the more you talk about us, the more we're gaining. If they don't understand that, you cannot do anything but laugh at the whole thing."

He's also not concerned at Behemoth frontman Nergal's supposed unveiling of frontman Papa Emeritus II's identity via a backstage photo from a festival.

"It didn't make a difference," says the Ghoul. "It's just an assumption anyway. We're friends with the band so we don't really have a comment."

One of the Nameless Ghouls from Ghost has confirmed the band are working on their third album and that it will surface in 2015.

The follow-up to 2013’s Infestissumam comes on the heels of a 2014 battle between fans and non-fans of the masked Swedish outfit, with each side launching online petitions regarding the group’s status.

The anti-Ghost contingent claims they are a “watered down version of Blue Oyster Cult” while the pro- side supports the band as part of the whole metal genre. Ultimately, Ghost laughed off both options and maintained their focus on touring.

Now a Ghoul reveals: “Children of the World! We hope that you are enjoying the end…of the year. We would just like to tell you all that we are currently crafting a new album to be released next year and we can't wait to shed some light on the details about it. Until then though, happy holidays.”

Infestissumam peaked at number 35 on the UK album charts while delivering the group a number one record in their Swedish homeland. Earlier this year one member said the band didn't want to overstay their welcome but added they believed they had at least two more albums in them.

(hennemusic) Swedish occult rockers Ghost have issued a video formally introducing their newest frontman, Papa Emeritus III. "A message from the clergy: We wish to inform you that he is...here," posted the band.
Papa Emeritus III is the latest singer to join the Nameless Ghouls following the resignation of his three-month older brother Papa Emeritus II, who himself took over from original singer Papa Emeritus.

The frontman makes his recording debut with Ghost on their third album, "Meliora", due out August 21. The project was produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace (Slayer, Nirvana, Guns N' Roses, Linkin Park).

"Meliora" - latin for "better" - follows the band's second album and major label debut, 2013's "Infestissumam" (latin for "hostile"), which debuted at number one in Sweden and won the Swedish Grammis Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Album.

Do it...do it...do it...

It's an entertaining show. And the music is very good. This will be my third time - I missed one tour because it sold out. I won't make that mistake again.

I was at a subscriber gathering for a sports web site I subscribe to, and I got interviewed by another web site that was covering it. Got talking to the guy afterwards because he reviews concerts, too, and we talked about Ghost. He'd seen the last tour, and I told him about the first time I saw them. I'd heard about them, but I hadn't heard their music - IP was one of the people who'd I'd heard about them from. They walked out and I was blown away with both the presentation and the music. Started looking them up on Wikipedia right away, and the first or second sentence said they were a Satanic band, and I did one of those cartoon double-takes. I couldn't believe anyone took it seriously, and that was after two, maybe three minutes - it was such an obvious put-on. But they deliver the goods - I think you'll have a blast.

Ghost No Longer Obligated to Use ‘B.C.’ in Name
By Graham 'Gruhamed' Hartmann July 22, 2015 8:48 AM

Back in early 2013, Ghost changed their name to Ghost B.C. in the States due to legal reasons. The details of the name change were never truly explained, but for some time, the dreaded B.C. appeared along Ghost’s neo-classic band logo. However, we were told by one of Ghost’s Nameless Ghouls in an exclusive interview that the band is no longer obligated to use B.C. in its name.
Since there have been various bands called Ghost in the past, many fans assumed a lawsuit had taken place, but this is not the case. According to the Nameless Ghoul, the parent company that owns Ghost’s record label, Loma Vista, took the precaution to block a potential lawsuit.
“The thing was there was never a lawsuit,” the Ghoul explains. “It was basically, I have to just explain myself after I hang one institution out to dry here and that was not our real label, but the bigger umbrella version of our label. Unfortunately in the legal world in general, and it’s not an anti-American thing, but especially in America where people are so conscious about not being sued, obviously all corporations are extremely conscious about not getting sued. So the big major label, specifically, had a policy that said that every artist they sign must own their own name. Obviously we don’t have exclusive rights to our band name because it’s a word so commonly used. There are so many brands that have the word “ghost” that I think it’s almost un-ownable, in a way, unless it’s more specific. So it was basically a demand from the label that we added something.”
The Nameless Ghoul goes on about what B.C. actually stood for, and how though, B.C. is still in the fine print, Ghost no longer have to print the letters prominently on their releases.
“What we found least irritating was that if it was something short for something else,” the Ghoul continues. “We added the B.C. ‘Because of Copyright’ or, obviously, ‘Before Christ.’ We wanted people to still focus on Ghost. Unfortunately that leaked over into the promotional side too just because they tagged everything ‘Ghost B.C.’ everyone started calling it that. While we told every promoter and every journalist that we spoke to, ‘Don’t write Ghost B.C. because that’s not our name.’ It’s like saying, ‘I’m going to go down to McDonalds LLC or McDonalds, Inc. and buy a burger.’ So this time around, when we had a little bit of a flip within the company, we took the opportunity to raise the question and make it happen so that we don’t have to write it out on the record. There’s something extremely unromantic that’s called metadata and within the metadata in all the regions that we need to, it’s still B.C. It’s there in the fine print, but for you and I and everybody else, we don’t have to say that. So it’s Ghost now, which I’m extremely happy about.”

The band kicked off the "Unholy/Unplugged" promo tour for the new album yesterday in Seattle at the SoDo Silver Platters record store. I was planning on going but came down with something and didn't want to infect people. Apparently there was quite the crowd.

Here's a video of the performance.

Well, Ghost can't compete with the Pope in Philly after all (our whole city is being shut down for 2 days which is beyond ridiculous), but at least I can still see Ghost again.

Image

From Ghost themselves:

We wish to inform you that due to Frankie's visit next month in Philadelphia, we received a letter informing us that Ghost fans would not be able to use public transportation or park their cars next Union Transfer.

In hopes to ensure that each and every Ghost fan can attend this show, we have decided to move the Philadelphia concert at Union Transfer to Tuesday, September 29th.

The band were originally scheduled to play a few days earlier, the same day that Pope Francis, or Frankie, as they lovingly refer to him, was set to visit the town. The problem was due to security, there would be a massive blockade of the immediate area, which the venue that Ghost was playing would be a part of. According to Brave Words:

The Union Transfer, on Spring Garden Street, is inside the "traffic box," the zone created by the city of Philadelphia to restrict traffic. While the front door of the venue is technically outside the box, parking in the rear lot or anywhere near the building will be nearly impossible. Not only will loading-in the band's large stage props – suggesting a black mass – require divine intervention, curtailed train service throughout the city will smite the travel plans of most fans.

Bravewords also interviewed the owner of the venue who said that Ghost had a lot of PR ideas for how to make the day memorable:

Promoter Sean Agnew saw potential in billing the act as "Ghost vs. Pope," a religious head-to-head, a "Battle For Philadelphia." The concert sold out almost immediately. To promote the Philadelphia show, the band produced mock-evangelistic videos of an older, sinister woman preaching from a pulpit.

"The band wanted to get really creative, and have their own Ghost motorcade where the singer would go around the city," said Agnew, who runs R5 Productions. "We had these great ideas to create an alternative to the Pope. But more and more stories started to come out about the lockdown. We had to scale back."

(hennemusic) Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, so Ghost will help The Late Show With Stephen Colbert celebrate the holiday with a performance on the show on CBS-TV on October 30.

"We suggest you mark your calendars and tune in on the night of," says the band. The appearance on Halloween Eve marks the American TV debut by the Swedish rockers as they promote their latest album, "Meliora."

The group are currently playing dates on the Black To The Future North American tour in support of the project, which delivered Ghost their first-ever US Top 10 when the album debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 8 with opening week sales of 29,000 copies.
