I was surprised to hear that they are going to give Hicks all those AB's.

They may platoon him with Ackley. But Hicks has had very few ABs and he has to play in the field because Beltran is awful at this point.

Phils blew that one badly tonight and wasted another monster HR from Howard.

Cubs are at 20-6 and are blowing the NL Central away. And the only team that has slowed down the Nationals are the Phillies or they would have 20 wins too.

Looks like the top teams will run away with their divisions feasting on the weak.

Phillies offense is worse than a nude poetry recital by Dom DeLuise.

Another ugly loss 4-0 in St. Louis today.

Glad I missed most of it, but the kids were loud today at school, so this whole day was brutal!

I am speechless Linda-this was brilliant and ironic that I mentioned DeLuise and here someone spoofed him years ago!

What is wrong with DeGrom? He looks weak and tepid.

Not much zip and he's not striking anyone out.

Gave up an RBI hit to a pitcher who was hitting .053 or something.

Is it still his lat and/or back?

The mental aspect about his son?

He seems way off right now.

Tanaka pitches 8 shutout innings, but the Yankee bats are silenced again, and the O's win 1-0 in 10 innings.

DeGrom definitely seems off but, according to a story on MetsBlog this morning, he watched video of the game & thinks it's a mechanical issue that should be easily corrected. I think this happened to him last year at some point and he was back to the old DeGrom immediately. Hoping that's the case.

Ironically, the Mets' best two pitchers in recent weeks have been Steven Matz and Bartolo Colon. Hard to believe their record is so good with Harvey, Syndergaard and DeGrom somewhat struggling.

I was about to say that too. :D

So far the two best have been Matz and Colon. Syndergaard's fastball despite 98 MPH was flat last time out and he got tattooed. Harvey has been off all year and deGrom had a terrible outing last night.

The Mets did make a comeback late last night (2 HRs in the ninth) that fell short.

Yankees start a 10 game home stand that might define the season. They really need to win at least 7 out of the 10 to get back into the race. 9 wins so far this season is just ridiculous.

By the time Chapman comes back they might just as well trade him for prospects.

And it gets a little bit worse for the Bronx Bombers, as Sabathia heads to the DL with a strained groin. Man it sucks getting old.

Jung Ho Kang made his return to the Bucs lineup tonight. First MLB game since his leg was badly broken by a sliding Cubs player last year.

Fairly uneventful return - two HRs.

Yanks beat the Red Sox 3-2 in an emotional squeaker. Ortiz went ballistic after being called out on strikes with the bases loaded and one out in the top of the 9th.

Lots of misjudged fly balls by the Yankee outfielders made for a nerve-wracking time.

Phils lose again to Miami, as Stanton hit a 490 foot homer that I estimated at 30,000 feet.

That was the worst balls/strikes calling I've ever seen. John Farrell was right, Ortiz would have needed a hockey stick to hit that last one.

The much maligned Bartolo Colon hit a HR tonight!

One thing about this years Mets team.....it's all or nothing offensively. Either they hit a ton of HRs like tonight or they struggle. No small ball for this team.

I thought it caught a part of the front lip of the plate, and was knee high when it crossed.
It had wicked movement, and was way out of the zone when finally caught, which is what most people see. It was not that bad a call.
