Is anyone braving the record stores to pick up some treasures today? Anything that seems to be a must have?
Good luck to everyone who heads into the fray!

Here's the .pdf of releases that could possibly be there:

I'm most interested in the Rain Parade album. But not braving the crowds this year so probably will miss out.

Disappointing year for me (so far, at least). Couldn't find two of my top wants - Eric Carr on vinyl, and the Rocky Horror disc. For the second year in a row, no Garbage 10" to be found. Also no South Park concert set, and no Doors CD (did see the vinyl).

Passed on a couple I may revisit later on - America live, Amboy Dukes, Elton John.

I did manage to snag the Who, Zappa, Knopfler, Eric Carr on CD, and the over-priced Kate Bush 10" (but it's Kate Bush).

My usual first stop didn't seem to have the variety they usually have. Apparently they had a long line and sold a lot early on. Seems like they bet heavily on the Bebe Rexha release - and it looked like the Mary J. Blige section at Circuit City. They must have had close to a dozen left, and they were prominently displayed.

I sleep late and order everything online. I'll let you know how it goes by next week!

Showed up at my local around 1:00 this afternoon and walked out with 5 of the 6 I wanted: two Cannonball Adderley releases; Dixie Dregs; Motorhead; Sun Ra. Missed out on the Shelly Manne release. Pretty good crowd and owner said she had a great day so far.

I found the Eric Carr vinyl online. A couple places sold out before I found them, but I found a place in Texas that had it, so I ordered it. Still have a couple stores to check out here, but I didn't want to miss out on that one.

Headed to one more store today for RSD stuff. But before that, I decided to meet my wife for lunch in town. And before I met her, as I was walking to the place we were meeting, I hit some uneven pavement, and this time I was not pretty nimble for a fat guy. Down like a rock. Destroyed my sunglasses - prescription, of course. And because I was only going to the pizza place, I didn't switch to my regular glasses, which would have been covered by the protection plan. Scraped my knee, both hands hurt where I caught myself, and the sunglasses did a number around my eye, but I'm just going to tell people I got my wife's order wrong, what was she supposed to do?

On the plus side, I got the last exclusive must-have for me, the Richard O'Brien demos for Rocky Horror. Never did find the Paramore cover of "Burning Down The House". I'll probably order the Doors CD online, but I'm not considering that a must-have (although it sounds really tempting).

And I also found the deluxe edition of "Frampton Comes Alive" and two Zappa promo discs, "Kill Ugly Radio" and a radio banded version of "Strictly Commercial".

Yet another RSD tragedy! When will this madness end?!?

(Seriously, very sorry about your fall. Glad that you seem to be okay. And that you've had some luck with your RSD purchases.)

Best way to avoid broken bones? No X-rays!

Although my eye has swollen - but not quite to a "cut me, Mick!' degree.

I noted this in the concerts thread in Icebox, but Sunday I made a trip to a place called Hub City Vinyl in Hagerstown, MD. It's a record store w/an attached concert venue. While looking at their site, I noticed they had a couple RSD categories. Looking through those, I found the David Byrne/Paramore single from this year, and a 12" M single from last year. When I got to the store, I couldn't find them, so I asked and said I'd seen them on the web site. Turns out that the web site is not an in-store inventory - they apparently have another site that does online sales. So no joy at the store, but I ordered them today. The woman at the store said they showed as in stock but only on the web side, so we'll see if I actually get them. I was stunned at the Byrne/Paramore single because the stores near me sold out of them so fast they just chuckled when I asked about them.

Strangely enough, last week I'd stopped in one of my usual RSD stops, and they had an album from this year's RSD that they did not have on my previous visits. Weird how some of this stuff seems to trickle out.

Last week I actually found a new copy of the Tinted Windows album at Penny Lane in Upland for $29.99! I never thought I'd see this in the wild.

This has not been my week for dealing with web sites that can handle inventory counts.

Got an e-mail today that this order has been canceled because the items are unavailable. Okay, not really a surprise, but then why were they still listed on the site? And with Buy buttons? So I went out to the site today, and you won't believe what is showing as available...
