Well, here's a surprise ...

Superman: The Man of Tomorrow Book One

In these tales from the late 1980s that led the way to the "Death of Superman" saga, the Man of Steel faces foes including Brainiac, Lex Luthor and Silver Banshee. While Luthor attempts to manipulate Brainiac into doing his bidding, Superman is forced to stop an assassination attempt on Luthor. And Superman banishes himself from Earth when doubts about his own sanity begin to take hold. Plus: the origin of of the mysterious Silver Banshee, and a battle royal between Metropolis crime-fighters Gangbuster and the Guardian.

I'm guessing these are the volumes that will follow the John Byrne MOS run of trades?

I thought there was a Roger Stern Superman Omnibus coming. I must have dreamed it. :) There's the older Death and Return Omnibus, but that's definitely not what I was thinking of.

Evidentally. No one ever tells writers anything. I found out about this collection by seeing it listed online.

I am surprised -- but delighted -- that they're going with a hardcover edition.

Such a Omnibus would be unlikely. Although most my stories could be read on their own, the Superman titles of our era are best read together.

That's right, it was the triangle era, wasn't it? I wonder if they will collect that in some other way. If they ever get that far anyway.

My guess is #27 as #28 was previously reprinted in the Superman: Exile TPB. Still, none of these Superman issues have been reprinted before, in any form. Not sure about Adventures of Superman as I haven't done a Jerry Ordway bibliography yet.

Now most of Roger's 1988 work for both Marvel and DC is out in some reprint form with the notable exception of Starman and Power of the Atom.

Actually, POWER OF THE ATOM is available in a Kindle Edition.

Same here. I'm glad Ordway was there at the beginning of the reboot, because we got a different artistic perspective on Supes.
