The Fantastic Four has always been the home for Marvel’s biggest ideas and most creative concepts. It’s a tradition founded by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby — and now, Doug Moench and Bill Sienkiewicz carry the torch (no pun intended) forward in this amazing Masterworks! Giant monsters invade New York! A possessed Franklin Richards threatens all reality with his immeasurable power! The FF join Captain Marvel in a cosmic war against the Skrulls, drawn by George Pérez! Doctor Doom retakes Latveria! A lost race of technologically advanced Vikings, powered by a blind god’s tears, needs the FF’s aid! And a trip to the great outdoors ain’t no picnic when alien brain parasites attack! The legendary John Byrne makes his writer/artist debut, and so much more! Collecting FANTASTIC FOUR (1961) #219-231 and ANNUAL #15.

Fresh Start might be a nice time to actually relaunch the title.

They're still making Marvel Masterworks. I wish they'd resume DC Archives.

I got the first FF one when it came out...never bought another one. That's a lot of masterworks.

I have the first three Omnibus volumes, and the fourth one will get me to where I started buying the single
issues new off the shelves. Although bulky/awkward, I like the value of the Omnibus volumes, and, often,
the oversized pages get to take advantages of the latest restoration. For example, many of the Masterworks
were redone when they came out with the softcover Masterworks. The newer images then went into the
Omnibus volumes.

Omniboo versions?

They sound like fun, but although I'm glad they exist, I have no wish to own them.

They typically collect three Masterworks in one volume, have slightly larger pages, include the
Letters pages, and don't cost much more than a single Masterworks volume these days.

That's a nice selection. Did you also pick up the Golden Age and Atlas Era Cap and Subby books?

I own about 30 Masterworks, but only have the Daredevils for a complete set. Mostly I have Atlas Era
Masterworks: Journey Into Mystery, Tales to Astonish, Strange Tales, Tales of Suspense, …. I wish
Marvel would have finished up Strange Tales and J.I.M. They were just getting to the Kirby and Ditko
goodness.

Oh wait… 40 volumes. I forgot that I bought that "Avengers Mansion" collection of ten first volumes
of the Silver Age of Marvel books.

The other Masterworks that I've picked up include the two Ant-man volumes, Ka-Zar, Silver Surfer,,
Champions, and X-Men #7-8 that collect the original team's guest appearances in other books.

No, I have not purchased anything from before FF #1.
I do have the 2 monster Omnibuses.

If Simon were to get any Omniboo books, I'd want him to have those two Kirby Monsterworks.
I bought 'em because I'll always buy that Marvel Monster material no matter how (and how often)
they repackage it. By buying them, I was also hoping to encourage Marvel to go back and finish
up J.I.M. and Strange Tales, and possibly a large Ditko Collection. Alas…

Is there an image that compares the old and new remastering?

Probably. I'm just going on the say-so of the Masterworks Forum posters. Apparently, some new material was added
and some of the pages were improved or replaced with better source material where available.

Cory Sedimeier posted the following info:
Quote:
I've revisited select issues where the inventory uncovered better-quality source than previous printings on ASMv1-4, the covers to Avengers #1-10 and Hulk #1-6. FFv1-3 are new restoration original to the TPB line. The X-Men v1-3 TPBs are identical to the Omnibus restoration, as are the interiors (story pages) to Hulk v1. The interiors to Avengers v1 are identical to the Classic Avengers comic reprints Beazley edited, and the Avengers v2-3 TPBs are/will be identical to the recent hardcover BTP restoration—same with the upcoming Iron Man v1. Uncanny v1 is identical to the Omnibus restoration and v2 is identical to the recent hardcover BTP.

Whenever Cory does a volume, it's worthwhile improvements.

DC has shifted to Omnibuses for all the old stuff it seems. I have the first 3 Golden Age Superman volumes and the first two Batman ones. I want to continue with the Superman but I'm done with the Batman. He gets rather silly until the 70s fairly quickly.

I've been thinking of maybe getting into the DC Omnibus. The Batgirl (but I am annoyed at how
expensive it is compared to the others and how they didn't have some of Babs' early appearances
from books like World's Finest, Superman, etc. Those were in the Batgirl Showcase volume so they
should be in the Omnibus I'm thinking. Plus, having added them would have helped make up for
how thin the volume was compare to the price).

Other than that one which I will probably eventually get, I've been considering the early Legion of
Superheroes. I want to revisit those and read the ones I've never seen.

I passed on the Batgirl omnibus too for the same reasons. I don't get why it's so much more expensive for far less material.

I've seen someone showcase the Batgirl volume in a YouTube video, though, and it is rather gorgeous.
It just should have been cheaper and/or featured those additional appearances.
