Good for you, Roger. I had my doubts that the Masterworks line would get this far when it first started out.

It is flattering, but "one of the greatest eras in Spider-Man history"? I hope they're not pouring it on too thick.

They aren't.

I have to agree. I only read the issues Rog wrote a few years back when I bought the Spider-Man complete issues DVD/CD whatever it was,. and the pick up in quality when he took up the writing reins, and the sustained readability, were apparent throughout the run. I burned through them (and the Avengers ones I had likewise not read) in record time. Great comics.

I agree. After Marv Wolfman left the title seemed to flounder until Roger and John Romita, Jr. combined. A lot of good and interesting things happened in that run, and I was glad DeFalco and Frenz kept that pace up when they took over.

I really feel this era of stories were really underrated but true Spider-Man fans know how awesome the period was. Your stories were great and I think you really had a great feel for the character and how he should be written.

If anything, it's an understatement my friend.

Those early Marvel Tales double-sized issues are fantastic. My Dad was a little late in starting to buy
some of the Marvel superhero books, but he was buying up those Marvel Tales books to help fill in
the gaps, so I got to read early Thor and Ant-Man stories.

Before the Masterworks and the Epics and all of the Omnibuses, they were there for us!

Fantasy Masterpieces was nice, too, for that really old Cap stuff and the Atlas Monster repeats.

Marvel Triple Action was a little racy for its time, though.

Marvel Two On One was the best, though.

Giant Size Man-Thing gave you a big bang for your buck.

My 11-year-old self stills get a chuckle out of selling that title on the racks.
