Dear Uncle Rog,

At what point was it decided that the Titanian pantheon from the Captain Marvel stories were related to the Eternals? Was Mentor always intended as the brother of Zuras? If not, why make these two groups related?

I believe that linking the Titanians with the Eternals was something Mark Gruenwald came up with...probably around the time he and Ralph Macchio were back-stopping Roy Thomas on THOR, and coming up with some way to integrate Jack Kirby's Eternals/Deviants/Celestials material with the Marvel Universe.

As I recall, Jim Starlin originally meant for Mentor to be related to Zeus.

That's funny. I had always assumed that this was the intention from the start. I'm still locked into that kid mentality that everything in comics was pre-planned and executed exactly according to plan. Logically I know this cannot be the case, but asking the question above would never have occured to me.
