... sticks out in my mind as the best retelling/update. Concise and to-the-point, I love it. While "The Adventures of Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty" by Giffen and MacGuire was also very good, it was long and drawn out by comparison. I prefer quicker origin stories.

Rog, were you the one who came up with "Vita-Rays" or was that something that had existed in the mythos before?

All we really did was mix and match from the many versions of Cap's origin that had seen print up to that point.

The Vita-Rays were a Lee-Kirby addition from Captain America #109.

I am just about to read your version for the first time. The last chapter of the Cap trade awaits me. Pretty gruesome end for the Baron Blood arc.

Joe inked this for my pal Ferran who added the lettering in Artie Simeks style

Oh yeah, and you too, Rog! This was one of the most memorable runs in the very long history of the character.

The movie origin is basically Rog & Byrne's.

I loved it. The Stern/Byrne run was my favorite.

The Stern/Byrne origin story was reprinted in the Ideals book from 1981, which I bought off the bookshelves.
