Wierd...I thought I posted a question re this box set just yesterday (in the original thread. Apparently did not hit submit. Oh well... one more time:
For Zappa fans who may be like myself: The Floe and Eddie era is not my favorite. I am not a fan of Flo & Eddie's shenanigans. IMO A little goes a long way and I feel detracts from the main point - the music. Anyway, if you are in the same category, but maybe a completist's completist - did this box redeem this era - or at least a serious re-evaluation? I have heard a few solos from the box which I found outstanding, but still held back. I mean how many Billy The Mountain does one need? Any converted out there?

I am of the same opinion as you with regard to the Flo and Eddie era and I received this box as a gift. I played it once to ensure it had no defects and have not returned to it. There is great musicianship but the rambling, smutty and unfunny skits (and I don't blame Flo and Eddie for them, it's squarely on Frank's shoulders. Everyone on the stage is following his orders.) are just too obnoxious for my taste.

Appreciate the feedback, Jason. I will continue to skip. In absolute agreement that FZ was point on direction - I just like to 'blame' Flo & Eddie - likely because I find their voices so grating).
