1st. Seconds expression doesn't seem to match his actions.

Two at first.

After looking at each one for a bit longer, I am becoming charmed by One.

I like the post better on #1. But the foreshortening on the arm is not working well, and once my eye is drawn to it, I can't look away.

#2 isn't as dynamic a pose, but it registers as more true because it's a more correct composition.

They are about the same...
same distance, toned background, centered in the middle, etc.

Surfer is dynamic, these poses arent as dynamic.

Everything is flat there is no illusion of depth.

Suggestions:
Tone the background to black, add different sized stars planets, make him smaller to show the vasrness of space,
dont crop him with him touching the edges of the page, vary the line thicknesses and lastly
refine the anatomy.

Try making the krackles as perfect circles rather than oval shaped; also, vary the sizes more.

Ah, I thought you had and was about to suggest you do more tutorial stuff.

Here's one my attempts at Kirby Crackle. It's tough to nail down and get that loose sense of raw energy.

So I guess my Machine Man sucks...
