Seems like I've waited forever for this album to arrive.

Image

1 It's All a Lie
2 Lay Your Head Down
3 In Your Back
4 The Harder Ships of the World
5 It Ain't No Crime
6 Where No Endings End
7 Liberty
8 Between the Flatland and the Caspian Sea
9 Caspia

Supposedly a 10th track on an import version but I've also read that wasn't true, even if advertised. Still, I'd love to have bonus tracks- pricey iimports or not.

From Blue Note Records:
Over the course of four previous records — including Not Going Anywhere (2003) & Nolita (2004) — New York and Paris-based artist Keren Ann has racked up accolades for original compositions that put a fresh perspective on the age-old art of songwriting.

The arrangements and productions of Keren Ann are ripe with subtle surprises, imbued with an organic character that belies the scrutiny with which she refined the album. “Lay Your Head Down” is propelled by handclaps, harmonica, and a mix of legato and pizzicato strings, all rolling beneath a circling guitar riff and blissful vocal. Gossamer choral vocals waft through lines of trumpet and glassine piano on “Liberty,” while “It Ain’t No Crime” lumbers forward in heavy boots, dirty guitars, and distorted drums churning in a dark, pensive vortex. Cuts like “The Harder Ships of the World” and “It’s All a Lie” reveal new facets of her evolving artistry.

I just received mine from FNAC on Monday. It was listed as including a bonus track, but the CD only has the 9 tracks. It is an excellent release!

This is particularly strange given that the FNAC web page also includes an audio clip of track 10 (the bonus track).

I wonder if there was some sort of production glitch in connection with the CD?

Amazon listed an import version with a bonus track in the album heading- but then in the description, they noted there was no bonus track! Oh well. So far this is my favorite album of the year. Maybe a bonus track will show up on an import cd-single, though I'm very satisfied with the nine tracks on the album.

I've had Nolita in stock forever at my business. I remember reading somewhere a few months ago that it was an excellent album. It had been in the back of my mind ever since to play it. Just got around to it &............ it is really good. I'm keeping it.

I first got hooked on Keren Ann with her "Not Going Anywhere" album. There are two albums before that one, "La Biographie de Luka Philipsen" and "La Disparition", which are worth checking out.

The Lady & Bird albums are her side project with Icelandic artist Bardi Johannsson. They released two albums together so far, the s/t debut and a live disc, La Ballade of Lady Bird. I liked the live album better though I admit I need to listen more to the debut.
