Went with some trepidation because, while I love sci-fi eye candy, the reviews I'd caught were not flattering. And no huge surprises plotwise (and don't expect any acting Oscars), but a tolerable way of passing a couple of hours. Vin growls pleasingly, production design is very effective (and SFX are mostly good), Dame Judi (slumming it) adds a welcome touch of class, and it's all set up for a further sequel. Low point for me - Thandie Newton, who I think is utterly gorgeous, wearing Michael Jackson Thriller zombie eye makeup which renders her as unattractive as Halle Berry in the Catwoman cossie, while doing a cut-rate sci-fi version of Lady Macbeth. High point - FX which show how The Flash could be done effectively in a super-hero movie as well as the Matrix: Revulsions showdown shows how a Superman superpowered fight could be done.
Didn't Vin ask Dame Judi to be in the film??
I think they went overboard on the ripple-glass effects and the Blur effects not that it was badly done, there was just to much of it.
I did like the Flash Effect tho, I think they did a good job especially when the bad guy get it at the end.
