Product Description
After a three year break, Hard-Fi are back with aplomb and have honed their trademark sound. With previous tracks - 'Suburban Nights', 'Hard to Beat', 'Cash Machine', and 'Living For The Weekend' - already under their wings, they're sure to break the mould once again with their boisterous up-tempo tunes. The band's vibrant new album (partly recorded in Los Angeles and in Staines' Cherry Lips studios) has been co-produced by frontman, Richard Archer, with the help of some highly-praised names: Stuart Price (Killers, Madonna), Grey Kurstin (Lily Allen) and Alan Moulder (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Killers). The first single from the Staines four piece, 'Good For Nothing' is a true statement of intent; an anthemic rebel-rousing call to arms that signals the start of a new phase for the band. Produced by frontman Richard Archer, the single has already received a mass of support from radio with Zane Lowe naming it his Hottest Record In The World Right Now and also playing it during his stint covering for Chris Moyles. More Radio 1 support has come from Fearne Cotton and XFM have also added to their daytime playlist with DJ Steve Harris naming it his Single of the Week.

Hard-Fi: 'Our new single sounds a lot like Jay-Z's '99 Problems''

Hard-Fi singer Richard Archer has admitted that Jay-Z's track ’99 Problems’ was the inspiration for the band’s new single ‘Good For Nothing’.

The Staines outfit premiered the track on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show in April as the first taster from their new album 'Killer Sounds', which is expected to be released later this year.

In an interview with BBC Newsbeat, Archer confessed that he’d been listening to Jay-Z while writing the song, which is why it sounded "a lot" like '99 Problems' – but he also insisted he’d made "enough changes not to be sued".

He said: "When I wrote the tune, I wrote the tune to '99 Problems'. That was the sample I used just to get it off the ground, so that's why it probably sounds a lot like '99 Problems'."

Hard-Fi recently confirmed that they would be playing their first London show in over three years, as they prepare to headline London’s HMV Forum on September 23.
