Have to agree with you on COLLATERAL, the ending didn't do it for me I knew that's what was going to happen to the Cruise character and they didn't handle it well.

what is NAPOLEON DYNAMITE??

I finally caught Hellboy on DVD...I liked it! It was fun. I am not familiar with the comic so I don't know how faithful it is.

On Sunday I saw Gummo - very disturbing. Don't know if I would recommend it to anyone without a strong stomach...

Great first hour... laughably bad 2nd hour, imo.

Watched The Girl Next Door last night. The *Unrated* version. It was okay. Apparently for the fans of 24 that think this actress is a hottie, they will probably love the movie. It was pretty enjoyable, but rather tame and the laughs weren't as often as I would have thought. I'd give it a C+ in the grading scale.

For a better, stronger, faster, funnier Unrated viewing experience, I will throw EuroTrip in the ring. A very funny comic romp.

Debating whether to buy Ella Enchanted for the girls or the 20th Anniversary of Purple Rain. We'll see what this weekend brings home, if anything.

I watched the 1950 B&W version of Cyrano de Bergerac last night. Very interesting to compare it to the 1991 version with Gerard Depardeu.

My favorite version of Cyrano de Bergerac is Steve Martin's ROXANNE. I visited Nelson, BC where ROXANNE was filmed the summer they were filming. Interesting to see them turn a Canadian town into a U.S. town - complete with U.S. Mailboxes.

COLLATERAL - i enjoyed it - I love Michael Mann's style...LA is a character in this flick..very cool and very slick.

THE VILLAGE - I enjoyed it a lot and liked the twist at the end. M. Night has got style and put a lot of thought and care into his movies.

KILL BILL VOL 2 on DVD: even better than Vol 1 complete with a killer action packed deleted scene.

THE GOOD , THE BAD and THE UGLY special editin DVD: one of my favorite westerns...one of my favorite movies..period! Great DVD with tons of extras...all you need to know about westerns is here. the best of the spaghetti westerns..old Sergio was a genius!

Saw OPEN WATER in the theater last night. Not a packed show - as a matter of fact, there were only 5 people in the theater. Me and my parents, and one other couple.

I really wanted to like this movie, and I didn't not like it, but I can't say I'd recommend seeing it in the theater.

It's shot entirely on video - and not HD Video. There are several scenes where you are painfully aware that video does not have the same resolution as film. However, I think the video look actually worked in the film's favor - at times it really gives you a sense you're watching a home movie, which brings the terror home.

The actors are not that great - but again, it may have been done intentionally - that "home video" feel again. These are your neighbors, not movie stars.

I kept thinking "The Blair Witch Project", but it's not the same. There are some similarities (low quality film/video, unknown actors, and I'm guessing most of the dialog was not scripted), but it's a different movie. If you have a fear of sharks, you'll be terrified, otherwise I think you'll find yourself feeling rather tense, but not necessarily scared. The only other man in the audience (other than my dad and myself) was definitely distrurbed by the movie - he was standing up and pacing for most of the last half of the movie - luckily to the side of us, so not too disruptive.

I saw OPEN WATER on VHS and thought it was okay... not really scary or disturbing at all for me... but I really liked the ending. And the full frontal nudity in the beginning was nice.

If you're talking about the ending, I totally agree. They took a fresh, exciting first 2 acts and just slapped on a lame predictable ending. Still, that nightclub scene rocks.

Totally agree! It was like going to a great party and waking up with an ugly chick!
