That's one of the 2 reasons why I mostly switched to files. And other than a poor job of rendering photos, I love my Kindle for books.

Jethro Tull legend Ian Anderson reveals in a new TV appearance that he has COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), which he says in an "an incurable lung disease".
Anderson shared the news in a preview clip from his appearance on this week's episode of The Big Interview on AXS TV, which will premiere Wednesday, May 13th.
He shared, "I'm going to tell you something I've never told anybody in public before, I am suffering from an incurable lung disease which I was diagnosed with a couple of years back.
"I do struggle. I have what are called exacerbations, periods when I get an infection that turns into severe bronchitis and I have maybe two or three weeks when it's really a tough job to go out there on stage and play.
"Fingers crossed, I've gone 18 months now without an exacerbation and I'm on medication. If I'm kept in a reasonably pollution-free environment in terms of air quality, I do okay. But my days are numbered. It's not yet at the point that it affects my day to day life, I can still run for the bus."
He also says that he plans to "fight it all the way, keep using as much of your lung power as you're lucky enough to have and push it to the limit all the time. The minute you settle back and say, 'I can't do this any more,' it's a slippery slope. The answer is keep pushing."
Ian went on to describe the disease. Saying that it best known as "COPD, where you lose some of the ability of your lungs to give you enough oxygen. I spend 50 years of my life on stage among those wretched things that I call smoke machines.
"Today, they're politely referred to as hazers, as if they're somehow innocent and not damaging to you lungs. I really do believe that's a very significant part of the problem I have."

This is why Dan McCafferty (Nazareth) retired. He literally couldn't push his lungs in concert anymore, and that guy needed the lung for the way he sang. Ian's vocals aren't as hard as Dan's but he had quite the vocal range over the years that makes it hard to do what he did all these decades.

Ian was also a smoker. He is seen in many vintage pictures and videos with cigarettes.

Ian blew out his voice in 1984 and was never the same, but the smoking and continuously touring and straining his vocals could not have helped.
This is still sad to hear and explains a lot as to why he sounds so bad the last 10-15 years.

Really sorry to hear this. Thoughts and prayers are with Ian as he deals with this difficult condition.

I did watch the interview yesterday. It was good to see and hear Ian on TV talking about himself and Tull. It’s actually an interesting series. I’ve seen several of them. Dan Rather does a pretty good job and his guests seem to trust and admire him and therefore open up to him. He’s not an obvious choice to interview rock musicians but does his research.

i too, watch those rather interviews.......i have to be truthful and say that i was expecting much more from such a revered and seasoned new personality. the man has talked with presidents and kings and princes and emirs and many others, but he seems to softball all these interviews with rock stars and i just cannot understand why.
he completely let don felder off the hook on the split form th eagles, never even brought up why robbie robertson left the band and on what terms, spoke very little with boz scaggs about steve miller and visa-versa.
i don;t know, i just thought there would be more less and less pudding.
