It had been days since he got any pats on the head, so he needed to signal some fresh virtue.

I've a friend/acquaintence here where I live who is your competition for the biggest Jaws fan of all time -- he buys everything Jaws and his man cave basement is tricked out with all kinds of Jaws stuff. I thought I'd tell you he's also a board game fanatic (active at cons), and didn't you post that you were all into board games (I am). Anyway, before the official Jaws board game game out a few years back, Pete was the designer of a Jaws pastiche board game called Shark Island. If you want to track down a copy, just thought I'd tell you that game was by the Biggest Jaws Fan of Them All. You can read about it on BGG, of course.

I do love board games and Shark Island intrigues me now. I will check it out. As an aside, what board games to you like Jay? I don't buy everything about Jaws, but I rewatch the movie about once a year. I have read the Jaws Log, the Memories from Martha's Vineyard book, and Joe Alves' book. I've read the script. I have watched (I think) most, if not all, documentaries about it. I remember eagerly awaiting the release of "The Shark is Still Working." I kind of think that was the definitive documentary about Jaws. I have saved maps of Martha's Vineyard and videos showing the shooting locations. I have longed dreamed of going to MV specifically to have a Jaws experience and stand where Spielberg placed the cameras. In this new documentary, one can only hope Spielberg actually has something new to say about it. It seems like he tells the same stories about Jaws every time he speaks of it (i.e. It was hard. The shark never worked. I was naive. I had (or almost had) a nervous breakdown over it). Maybe I imagine this, but it seems like Spielberg gets rather distant when speaking of Jaws, like he is experiencing PTSD just remembering it. I sometimes wonder what it would be like never having the joy of experiencing Jaws if you made or worked on the movie.

I've never seen the movie. I read the book back when the film came out and thought it was an okay piece of pulp, but it didn't get me interested in the film. I bought the film a couple of years ago, but only because the Blu-ray came in a facsimile of those oversized plastic VHS cases that were used by some companies in the early days of VHS, I thought it looked cool, and it was cheap ($7 each). But the enthusiasm in this thread has me convinced I should finally watch it. It better be good! Here's the packaging I have it in:

One of my favorites from last year is Nucleum. I play a lot of Barrage on BGA. Brass is probably my all time. I'm the current world champion at Brass, at least according to the World Boardgame Championships, which I attend every year with a large group of friends.

Holy crap!
My favourite game is Lost Ruins of Arnak, followed closely by Terraforming Mars, Century Spice Road and, always in there, Wingspan. I am not in Jay's league in terms of ownership (I own about 80)or play rate, but I have pretty good rankings in Azul, Arnak, 7 Wonders Duel and Viticulture. I haven't played Brass, although I have heard a lot about it. Neither have I played Barrage, but that is available on BGA, where I do most of my playing.
