From Planet Comics #3,1940,by Henry Kiefer, for a feature called "Spurt Hammond" (wouldn't call it great, but it's wild) Nice poster. Not a panel or a page, but impressive. A rare Virgil Finlay comic book from 1947.

Jim Lee, judging by the signature in the lower right.

Kid Nemo wrote: Guess who this is. Yeah, this was part of a series he did to auction off to help retailers during the 2020 pandemic. I've said for years we've probably only seen the tip of the iceberg of what he's actually capable of as an artist. It's like he found this groove of what sells well and rarely ever deviates from that. The CK guys had a theory that the backlash of him "stealing" Frank Miller's style to do Deathblow was enough to convince him to "play the hits" from that point on. But in his sketches and commissions, the rare times he inks himself, we do see glimpses of what else he can do.

That's a beautiful cover, drawn by Matias Bergara. A few weeks ago he posted this on his Instagram, and I knew he was good! "You can tell a guy was designed by Toth because it's just so fun to draw, so elegant, so easy on the hand."

I've always liked this cover for that comic. By Stephen DeStefano
