I was trying to keep track as I watched, of which episodes really stood out to me as particularly great, or had a scene or moment that leaped out at me as particularly funny ...

... but I wrote nothing down, so now I don't remember any of my mental notes.

I do have a notion that my favorite Catwoman two-parter involved a college, and possibly Batman and Catwoman drinking a malt with two straws.

Yeah, where they have the premise of her reforming. I remember that one. A lot of the Catwoman episodes have just
blended together in my head, so I can't really identify any particular story for her in my head. I remember liking the one
with Lesley Gore as he henchgirl (probably the first Catwoman episode), and whichever one had Catwoman suggesting
that she and Batgirl kill off Robin (probably that college episode). They're all good, so it would be hard to pick just a couple
of episodes of her. And I like Eartha Kitt, too, but luckily she would be in a Batgirl episode, so I can double up.

Yeah, Julie is my favorite of all the Bat-villains.

I think the one where she suggests killing Robin is indeed the college one.

I think to be fair you'd have to make the Batman show into one hour segments, so each "episode" is a full two part story. From there you could break it down from 60 stories into a best-of, instead of having to consider a bunch of half stories you have to ensure you get the other half of.

Yes, that's why I was counting 2 episodes per major villain, but come season 3, we have some single episodes and a 3-parter
to also consider.

She was startlingly vicious in her first appearance. That was one mean Catwoman!

Personally, I think the Riddler came off the best of all the villains adapted in the '66 series. Something about Frank Gorshin's manic performance just leaps off the screen. He somehow gives the impression of being an even bigger loon than the Joker. The Joker even called him "mad" in the movie, which is something coming from the Joker.

Gorshin's Riddler was my favorite as well. The initial 2 parter has a terrific performance by him, and I was also partial to Jill St. John as Molly.(R.I.P.) in that story.

The TV show Riddler was far better than any Riddler in the comic books, that's for certain.

The opening Riddler two-parter has to be on the list, mos def.

It's difficult to follow the plot of the Batman '66 porn parody if you haven't at least seen that one.

We should probably all come together on
• what's the best Catwoman episodes?
• what's the best Riddler episodes?
• what's the best Penguin episodes?
• what's the best Joker episodes?

because that would probably take 8 or more of half of the total episodes right there.

Then, basically, which other villains do you think need to be featured?
I confess to always having liked King Tut, for example.
And I like Mr. Freeze (although which actor/story would be best?).
I need at least two good Batgirl episodes. Which are Yvonne Craig's best moments? It may come down to which villain they face.
Is it important to include Green Hornet? And so on.

Maybe we should just include all of the Julie Newmar episodes and be done with the list?

Julie Newmar Catwoman Episodes (IMDB fan rating)

1-19: "The Purr-fect Crime" (8.1)
1-20: "Better Luck Next Time" (8.0)
Catwoman steals some priceless art but the importance of the crimes go beyond the taking of the objects involved.
Batman also fights a tiger.

2-37: "Hot Off the Griddle" (7.8)
2-38: "The Cat and the Fiddle" (7.9)
The Caped Crusaders employ a newspaper columnist to snare Catwoman, not realizing the writer is actually working for her.
The second episode is where Catwoman tries to seduce Batman and threatens to kill RObin painlessly.

2-44: "Ma Parker" (7.6, Catwoman cameo in part 2)

2-63: "The Cat's Meow" (8.0)
2-64: "The Bat's Kow Tow" (8.0)
Catwoman gets her claws on a device capable of stealing people's voices (Cat got your tongue) and uses this to steal the voices of English singing duo Chad & Jeremy to hold their country for ransom. Brit Pop episode. Batman and Catwoman nearly kiss.

2-67: "The Sandman Cometh" (7.6)
2-68: "The Catwoman Goeth" (7.6)
Catwoman teams up with the continental crook Sandman to steal a fortune and finally eliminate the Dynamic Duo.

2-74: "That Darn Catwoman" (8.4)
2-75: "Scat! Darn Catwoman" (8.4)
Catwoman mind controls Robin, thus inducing him to join her gang. Guest starring Lesie Gore as Pussycat.

2-83: "Catwoman Goes to College" (7.9)
2-84: "Batman Displays His Knowledge" (8.1)
Catwoman is released from prison on good behavior and starts attending Gotham City college.

Good stuff!

Not sure the "Ma Parker" is hugely necessary as it's a pretty small cameo. On the other hand, I seem to recall thinking that two-parter was pretty fun overall.

I also have a recollection that the Chad and Jeremy storyline was not so great ...

Other than that, though, it's hard to knock any of these!

I eventually saw the movie, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, which the Sandman episodes were apparently based upon, and
I think I might have really enjoyed this two parter as it might have been (The Sandman instead played by Robert Morley
and Catwoman not appearing). I saw the original episode script once but never read through it. As it is, if I had to cut
Catwoman episodes, I would cut the Ma Parker cameo and the two Sandman episodes. We could cut Chad and Jeremy,
too, even though a 60's Pop storyline is fun, leaving

1-19: "The Purr-fect Crime" (8.1)
1-20: "Better Luck Next Time" (8.0)

2-37: "Hot Off the Griddle" (7.8)
2-38: "The Cat and the Fiddle" (7.9)

2-74: "That Darn Catwoman" (8.4)
2-75: "Scat! Darn Catwoman" (8.4)

2-83: "Catwoman Goes to College" (7.9)
2-84: "Batman Displays His Knowledge" (8.1)

Sadly, there's probably only room for two Julie Newmar stories. We'd need to cut one or two more.

Best Frank Gorshin Riddler episodes

1-1: "Hi Diddle Riddle" (7.7)
1-2: "Smack in the Middle" (7.6)
While the Riddler maneuvers Batman into being sued, the Dynamic Duo investigate the supervillain's concurrent scheme.

1-11: "A Riddle a Day Keeps the Riddler Away" (7.5)
1-12: "When the Rat's Away the Mice Will Play" (7.6)
When a visiting King is accosted by the Riddler, the Dynamic Duo pursues his subsequent complex trail of riddles to try to stop him.

1-23: "The Ring of Wax" (7.5)
1-24: "Give 'Em the Axe" (7.5)
The Riddler's latest scheme involves stealing a wax figure to melt down for its wax that is powerfully corrosive when exposed to direct flame. He wants to open a vault of rare books to find the key to an ancient treasure.

1-31: "Death in Slow Motion" (7.7)
1-32: "The Riddler's False Notion" (7.7)
The Riddler pursues a silent movie theme with his latest scheme. As the Dynamic Duo pursue the Riddler, they discover the true purpose behind his cinematic caper and his ultimate target. Along the way Riddler abducts Robin and places him in a series of classic death-perils.

3-2: "Ring Around the Riddler" (7.4)
The Riddler challenges Batman to a fight in the ring. Joan Colins does next week cameo.

As I said, my favorite Riddler episodes was the first story. As for the others, the ones that immediately came to
my mind were the 1-part boxing episode and the two where Riddler was doing Silent Films. I'd have to see
the other two stories to really start to remember them.

Who do we like best for Mr Freeze?
• George Sanders
• Otto Preminger
• Eli Wallach

I think I prefer Preminger always saying "Wild."

I seem to recall Shelly Winters and Tallulah Bankhead being enjoyable.

And I do like the British trilogy that features Glynis Johns. (Also Batgirl in that three-parter!)

I'd say George Sanders.

I am a big fan of Glynis Johns, especially in her movie role in The Court Jester. Still, a 3-parter is a
lot of episodes to commit to when you've only got 16-17, and for, essentially, non-famous villains.

I like Shelly Winters as well, and the idea of a Ma Barker parody family of criminals is appealing.
And Bankhead is interesting; they also used her briefly in the animated Batman: Return of the Caped
Crusaders.

I'd say George Sanders.

I like him, too, and he, unlike most, actually kills someone in the TV show, which is saying something. I'm not
sure what exactly, but it's different, I think the only outright murder in the show.

And I like the part where he chills a drink just by holding it. Plus he's got a heat ray as well, which the other two
never used. Still, I can't get that "Wild" hammy over acting of Preminger out of my head.

I think I would have to watch all three Mr. Freeze stories to make a final choice. But the scenes with Sanders and
Batman and Robin at the table with the heat and cold areas is very memorable to me.
