At the time staying in a Mall during a Zombie Apocalypse seemed a great idea but these days a Costco would be better, they have everything you would need for a very long time.
The remake in 2004 is almost as good, one of the best re-do’s ever. Zack Snyder hit that one out of the park. Again the gang hits the Mall.

I’m loading up with Summer movie tickets. Seeing This Is Spinal Tap this Monday night as it revisits the big screen for a special night and then picked up tickets for Superman in IMAX next Thursday night for an early showing and then again next Wednesday with my wife during a date night. Also seeing Fantastic 4 at the end of the month. Oh and seeing Jurassic Park Rebirth for the third time this Tuesday mainly for the sound, Dolby Atmos sound. The first time I saw the movie was at AMC and that place doesn’t have the best sound.

And a Zombie museum - they have a bunch of merch, mostly shirts, and for something like $10 or so, you can go through the museum and see a bunch of props and such. Very cool. We did the museum a couple years ago, and we're at the mall three or four times a month. We've talked about going for the zombie walk but haven't made it yet. Plus they filmed parts of Zack And Miri Make A Porno there (and around there). Unfortunately, Elizabeth Banks doesn't actually live around the mall.

You would think they would do a Halloween Zombie event every year.
Anyway one day when I go to Piitsburgh to see the NY Mets, I will pay a visit to a zombie shrine, maybe next year.

That mall is like five miles, tops, from me. Let me know when you're here - there's a great pizza (not NY style) place nearby as well. Or, if time permits, I can drag you to my favorite pizza place and we can hit Jerry's Records. Jerry is no more, but he sold the store and there's a ton of stuff in there.
Not sure if they do anything around Halloween - I've really only paid attention to the special events. They are having an estate auction with a guy who worked on the Romero flicks later this month. This is the second time for that.

Bought a complete Dirty Harry Blu-ray set and watched the first four movies over the holiday. I'll see The Dead Pool next weekend. As always, I really enjoyed the first three films but thought Sudden Impact dragged with too much of Sondra Locke's flashbacks.

I might miss the debut of the next big film Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey next July 2026 because I will be in Europe. Hopefully it is still playing at an IMAX theatre when we get back. Nolan hit it out of the park with Oppenheimer and as far as I am concerned has never made a bad film so this should be quite the cinema event! Saw the trailer the other day before Jurassic Park Rebirth.

The Dead Pool (1988)
Barely remembered anything from this movie which I hadn't seen since it was released. Early film for Jim Carrey, Not sure what I thought of this movie the first time around but I liked it almost as much as the previous Dirty Harry flick.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CWS6F4ZB/?tag=imwan-20Last night I watched King Hu's The Valiant Ones for the first time and quite enjoyed it. I'm normally a story guy, and the story for this is rather minimal, but it has some of great wuxia (swordplay) action scenes. Come Drink With Me is normally considered Hu's best, and I think this one is a bit better. Personally, I still would go with A Touch of Zen and Dragon Inn (also known as Dragon Gate Inn) as my favorite Hu films.

Just finished watching a real nice box set, Directed by David Lean Volume I. Australian import (region free) that contains the first six films that Lean directed (including In Which We Serve, which Lean received a co-credit as director with Noel Coward). If you are willing to spend a few dollars (can be found for about $125), this is a real nice collection of classic UK cinema.

The Dreaming (1988)
Australian thriller, part of the All The Haunts Be Ours: A Compendium Of Folk Horror blu-ray box set. It's slow paced but well-acted. Like a mix of The Fog and The Last Wave but without the urgency.
The Gauntlet (1977)
Hadn't seen this since it was released. I'd forgotten most of it, except for how it ended. I enjoyed it but wonder if it would've been better if reworked to be a Dirty Harry film.

Enjoyed an afternoon of watching B flick space adventures via Roger Corman on TUBI TV! Yes it was time for Battle Beyond The Stars (1980) starring John Boy and George Peppard (doing his best A Team impression) along with the always good Robert Vaughn, the tough baddie John Saxon and the sexy Sybil Danning.
What makes this sci-fi adventure worth watching is James Cameron did the special effects years before all his big hits.
I saw it at the movie back then and it was a lot of fun, nice to see it again.

Not did she actually make a porno No, but I do recall Kevin Smith saying she originally had a topless scene and got mad at him because he cut it - after she'd worked out to get in shape for it.

Wolf Man (2025)
A "re-imagining" of the 1941 film from Leigh Whannell, who directed The Invisible Man reboot in 2020. No Lawrence Talbot, no gypsies, no Emily Blunt. I liked it enough but it could have been a lot better and less claustrophobic if it took chances with some modern themes. No cheesy scenes but no humor either which it could've used.
