Walt Disney Carl Barks Library Donald Duck HC Vol 01 1942-1950
In 1942, pop culture history was made when artist Carl Barks joined with Donald Duck in the new storytelling medium of comics. Together they charted a course across the globe in search of adventure and riches. This first volume of Carl Barks' Duck stories brings together several of the artist and fowl's early classics in lovingly restored detail.
Publisher: TASCHEN AMERICA L.L.C. Artist: Carl Barks Product Code: JUN251451 Expected Ship Date: 8/13/2025 Regular Price: $200.00 Man. I could see myself buying these stories yet again. I have all of the Fantagraphics volumes so far, and hence cannot see myself buying this, even though it's intriguing. Yes, but I'm a sick man when it comes to Carl Barks.

The Marvel September 2025 solicitations are out, and they do not include a Marvel Masterwork. There was an interesting Epic Collection that I will probably invest in. The start of a Dr Doom collection told sequentially. https://www.amazon.com/dp/130296612X/?tag=imwan-20

I'll likely pick up Tomb of Dracula #5, but I might not since who knows if they'll complete the series now? Ah, DD #19, which ALMOST has the complete Micah Synn saga except that it excludes Micah's first freakin' appearance. MASTERWORKS, YOUR CANCELLATION WAS WELL-DESERVED

I've always been curious about Warlord. Anybody read it? Thoughts? I see it ran for 133 issues but Grell stopped drawing it in the early 50s.

I used to read Warlord, but, oddly enough, I remember almost nothing about it. Travis Morgan, U.S. Air Force pilot and Vietnam War veteran, crashes his SR-71 through a portal at the North Pole. He lands in Skartaris—a hidden, hollow Earth world filled with dinosaurs, magic, advanced technology, and remnants of Atlantis. Hangs out with Tara, a fierce barbarian woman, and Machiste, a warrior king.
Maybe it blends into my mind with Skull the Slayer, Arion Lord of Atlantis, and even a little with Jon Sable, Freelance. The latter, just due to Mike Grell art. I used to buy a lot of comics when Warlord was coming out, too many, really, so I haven't a lot of distinct memories about most of them.

With Diamond’s bankruptcy, Lunar Distribution has taken over as distributor for many publishers. Ahoy Artists Elite Black Mask CEX Clover Press Dynamite Floating World Legends Comics Mad Cave Studios (including their imprint Papercutz) Merc Oni Press Scout Comics Silver Sprocket Sumerian Titan Comics TwoMorrows Publishing Uncivilized Vault
Lunar also owns: Discount Comic Book Service In Stock Trades Tales of Wonder
They undercut the very same people they distribute too.

Yeah, this is a really unfortunate turn of events.
Some thought that Diamond being squeezed out would create a more "open market" for distributors, but it seems like non-Big Two publishers and shops are being squeezed more than ever before.

Those who had been hoping that Diamond would pop its clogs have learned to be careful what they wish for. Looks like it's created a terrible mess for publishers. Fantagraphics says that their inventory is being "held hostage," Dynamite says they can't make payroll because Diamond stiffed them, etc.

It seemed a lot of people were anti-Diamond because they were a monopoly -- but it should be noted not a monopoly of their own making. They didn't buy up or squeeze out competitors, that ball got rolling thanks to Marvel's Heroes World debacle. They just happened to be the sole survivor from that move.

Depends on your point of view, squeeze out, or smart business move. When Heroes World took Marvel away, they signed DC and Image to exclusives, which ultimately led to the demise of Capital City.

My memory is hazy but it seems like Diamond was in the same boat -- sign as many exclusives as you can or watch publishers cut you out by signing exclusive somewhere else. Which just happened.
