Description
BUCKINGHAM NICKS, the only studio album by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks as a duo, will be reissued for the first time on September 19. Originally released in 1973 and unavailable for decades, the album has been sourced from the hi-res digital files for its CD release.

Released on September 5, 1973, BUCKINGHAM NICKS quickly faded from commercial view but never disappeared from the cultural conversation. Recorded at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles and produced by Keith Olsen, the album introduced Nicks and Buckingham’s tightly wound harmonies and sharply contrasting songwriting voices across 10 tracks—ranging from the folk-rock shimmer of “Crystal” to the sunbaked strut of “Don’t Let Me Down Again.”

Its legend only grew with time. In late 1974, Mick Fleetwood visited Sound City while scouting studios to record Fleetwood Mac’s next album. To showcase both his production work and the studio’s sound, Olsen blasted “Frozen Love” for Fleetwood in Studio A. The song reflected the full scope of the album’s ambition and chemistry—and immediately caught the drummer’s attention.

Soon after, when Fleetwood Mac guitarist Bob Welch left the band, Fleetwood reached out to offer Buckingham the spot. Instead of agreeing, Buckingham insisted that he and Nicks were a package deal. Fleetwood agreed, and on New Year’s Eve 1974, the two officially joined Fleetwood Mac—launching one of the most celebrated chapters in the band’s history.

Though their work with Fleetwood Mac would eclipse it commercially, BUCKINGHAM NICKS endures as a testament to what came just before: a partnership in full creative bloom.

4. Crystal

Speechless considering all the years that have passed and the CD is such a mature medium. Should have been put out 20 years ago.

No bonus tracks, straight reissue. If this release had more than one disc, the Rhino pic would show it.

My 20 year old bootleg always sounded fine so it will be interesting if this is a major improvement (probably not).

I still have my 1975 vinyl but I've wanted this on CD for 40 years, and I don't do bootlegs, so I am definitely getting this.

The USA pre-order link in the first post is now active.

Also in the first post, I've added the tracklist -- it's the original album, 10 tracks with no bonuses, newly remastered.

This one was an exception, I don’t have many boots either (some Pink Floyd in DTS Surround) but way way back in the day, back when ICE magazine existed, way back when we had ICEers, this was heavily discussed.

Some very nice person, can’t remember who sent me an excellent copy with the artwork and it sounded fine.

For years it was the only way, back when collecting was fun!

I see that John started drinking early today.

It's a very safe bet that Rhino's official "sourced from the hi-res digital files for its CD release" will surpass the audio quality of any needledrop bootleg.

Awesome news...will be great to finally have in CD form...and as per usual Rhino gave us a little present by making the LP and CD with the Polydor homage red label...

The scuttlebutt on the Buckingham Nicks CD bootleg is that it's sourced from producer Keith Olsen's master tape, not a needledrop. (Some even claim he was involved in the release, saying it's "semi official".)
I don't believe it.

I actually have 2 versions, one that is probably a good needledrop and the other an impeccable industry source. And no I haven’t been drinking.

John,

I think it was Grant. Also had the single version of Crying in the Night.

Yes Jay, I think you are right. Grant is used to love to make CDRs and one of them was this one. He also sent me a Chicago greatest hits.

I miss the days of Grant and Renny back and forth on ICE (1999-2006). Very entertaining.

Been reading for years everywhere how people said it was criminal to not have put it out for decades.

So, my question is: what makes this disc so special? Is it unique from what they did with FM or or a preview of what was to come between these two?

Big preview of what was to come, the mega band known as Fleetwood Mac, an absolute monster. It’s not particularly that great but that chemistry between the two lovers is there.
