Description
On August 30, 1972, John Lennon & Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band with Elephant's Memory and guests headlined 2 historic ONE TO ONE concerts at Madison Square Garden, NYC. These benefit shows played to a combined audience of 40K people and helped raise over $1.5 million to support children with disabilities. They were his only full-length concerts after leaving the Beatles and the last shows John & Yoko performed together. Produced by Sean Ono Lennon, both concerts have been completely remixed and re-engineered by Paul Hicks and Sam Gannon, using new HD multitrack transfers by Rob Stevens with mixes mastered by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road. Super Deluxe Edition: 9 CDs, 103 tracks, 204-page book, newsprint poster, 2 postcards, 2 sticker sheets, 2 replica tickets, VIP backstage pass & VIP after-show invitation. The concerts are presented separately as `afternoon,' `evening' and `hybrid' shows on 3 HD Audio Blu-ray discs in HD Stereo, 5.1 Surround & Dolby Atmos.

Golly. It looks as if a song has been left off. I guess that only certain musicians can use that word. John's coolness must have expired some time in the last 53 years.

Thanks for confirming. The opening track at that. An instant pass for me for that alone. It is IMO an appropriate (perhaps only) use of the word given the context/power of the song, which is - again IMO - the strongest track on a weak album (though I do like John Sinclair quite a bit). Intended to be stark and abrasive. Within the context of the song, the word's inclusion was intended to shock/offend - not in a way of superficial 'shock value' - but to draw the attention to the issue: 'woman is the slave of the slaves' It works.

Considering its inclusion on the 2010 (! - where have the years gone) Signature box, it simply is egregious to exclude (no issue with any critical commentary within the book ect., but to strip it outright simply defeats the purpose of this type of release).

THAT song should be included in all its versions (studio, live, elements, evolution) as hidden tracks. Meanwhile, disc 1 is a distillation of discs 2 and 3, which is a waste of space. It's not as annoying as five alternate mixes of the same 12 songs (one of which was three seconds of silence) that made up the Mind Games box, but still.

I mentioned that first disc in a post on another board. Really?

This just went from "Immediate Purchase" to "I'll Pass".
Ridiculous.

Why would anyone pass on a box set of new mixes and unreleased tracks they wanted because a song we all have many times over is not included?

That's pretty much a textbook example of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Well, for one thing, it's changing history. This is by far, John's worst album but I'll still be getting it.

There was actually a teaser image released three years ago for this:

Click for full size

The outrage about the track you're all discussing -- as well as the original cover art -- might be what caused the planned Sometime In New York City project to be reworked into the Power To The People box.
