.. but I had an odd idea for a tv show. Or possibly just a sketch for a comedy show like Saturday Night Live.

Picture a Star Trek type cast and setting. Off in the distant reaches of space facing unknown phenomena and alien creatures. To add to that we have an Office/Newsradio (the tv series) dynamic. The net result would be that the main cast deal with whatever trivial notion catches their attention that day while the support crew has to do their best to overcome the actual threat or issue that is the story of the week. I picture things like the main crew talking about various dreams they've been having and being totally oblivious to a hostile alien incursion going on right in front of them.

Like I said. I could just be in a silly mood. I think it could be a fun show to watch though.

Good idea? Not so good?

I could see it working. Probably more as a recurring sketch than an actual show, though.

Yeah. That's what I figured.

I'd watch this show. Most TV bores me senseless, but I'd watch this show.

Sounds like a satire of certain modern news shows, where Linsay Lohan and the latest contestant voted off of "Survivor" lead the coverage and there's barely a mention of most of the important things going on in the world. It might make a better idea for a movie than for an ongoing TV series. The idea would probably wear thin after a while.
