I'm thinking of buying ticktets in advance for the LOVE show at the Mirage. My question for those who've seen it, do I need to buy the $150 seats or are the $125 fine? I would guess the $99 ones are too far away. http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/CirqueDuS ... efault.htm

Hey John! First of all, you'd better let me know when you are coming!! Second, I'd go with the $150 ones. I've seen that show from every angle (6 times now) and there is just something really special about being up close. Last time we had our best seats ever (3rd row) and it was amazing. My daughter was high-fiving the cast, things were falling on us, you name it! There is a really cool effect that is best witnessed from row L forward (I believe), so try not to sit behind that if you can.
Hopefully we can at least meet up for a drink on the strip (and/or a BBQ at our house) when you come!

Thanks DanO,
I won't be able to purchase the advance tickets till Febuary but I'll try and get the best I can.
I'll let you know where we will be as the vacation gets closer. We should arrive on Sunday June 28th and will be in town for 4 days.

We saw the show and had the $125 tickets. This was great because you can get some perspective on what is going on all around you. also there is one section where the more expensive seats are covered (for effect) and you will have a sheets over your head. The cheaper seats you get to see the effect without being covered.

Hey, that might be the very day that the Fest For Beatles Fans starts, so be sure to grab those LOVE tix early. Maybe we could even hit up Renny's favorite burger place! Keep me posted!

I see that you can order tickets online but can you call the box office directly to request a certain area? Usually online your unable to pick your section....the computer randomly picks the section.
Another question. Is it better to go to the 7PM showing or the 10PM showing?
The 7PM may not give us enough time to get over there from the Flamingo, eat, see the store, sit in the theater etc. We'll probably eat at the Mirage that evening.

Hey John, this link is through the Mirage and it always allows you to OK your exact seats before you finalize the purchase. If you don't want them just do another search. They also provide a seat map. http://www.mirage.com/entertainment/ent ... oleil.aspx I'd say go to the 10:00 PM show so that you don't have to rush. Plus there's a better chance of spotting some Celebs at the later show. Our daughters met Patti Boyd Harrison in the ladies room last time! You can also visit the Beatles' Revolution Lounge after the show - right there in the Mirage.

john,
staying at the flamingo puts you almost directly across the street from the mirage, maybe, on a bad day, 15 minutes away max.
so you can visit the store just about anytime you like, i'm pretty sure it is open all day.
the mirage is also right next to caesars, which gives you a zillion places to eat.
i have eaten at the burger place in the mirage (not even close to the one in paris) and el caribe (used to be really good and the menu changed and it sucks now), i've never eaten at the california pizza kitchen, maybe dan can tell you about that one. those 3 are the "normal place in the mirage (along with the buffet), i've never tried the high end places there.

Oooohh I didn't know that. Being close to the Mirage and Ceasars will work out great for us. One problem I have with going to Vegas is since I've never been there, I can't relate to where things are. I was hoping that the Flamingo would be close to most of the action. We're not gamblers so the pool was a top priority followed by its proximity to the Strip for evenings. Thanks again DanO and Renny.

I see the Paris has an Eiffel Tower. Anyone ever go up on that ride? Should have a nice view of the Strip especially at night. With the Paris right next to the Flamingo, I'll definitely try one of the Brasserie's burgers.

"bill's gamblin hall" is between the flamingo and bally's and you have to cross the street using a bridge to get to bally's. it goes (from north to south}: flamingo - bills - street - bally's - paris

Completely agree with Renny, John. The tower at Paris is great fun at night. You'll want to stay up long enough to watch the Bellagio show a couple of times. Stratosphere is also fun, but you'd never get me on that roller coaster up there, either. Not that there was a chance... both times I've been to the top, the coaster wasn't working. Maybe it's a sign? And "Love" is absolutely sensational. I'm still dazzled two years later and might have to go again this time -- if I can talk myself into spending any more money after buying tickets to "O." You'll love it.

Thanks. We're thinking of walking over to the Paris the first evening to have one of Renny's favorite burgers and then checking out the Eiffel Tower. If we have time maybe go over to the Bellaggio or Cesar's. We watched a Travel Channel program the other day called "Vegas's Top 10 Pools". The Flamingo came in at #5. The best family pool and overall pool was at Mandalay Bay. The Flamingo is in the top 3 of best family style pools. The other nice one is at MGM Grand. Many of the pools are for singles or couples only since their's much partying going on at them. Not that I'm against partying with beautiful women in string bikini's but I would imagine my wife might get a little annoyed. I'm not sure which night we will see "LOVE" since I can't get the tickets yet but I doubt it will be the first night we are there.

John, another note about Paris: If you and the wifey want to have a fabulous, romantic dinner, then you need to make reservations for dinner at the Eiffel Tower restaurant. I guarantee your better half will LOVE it! Figure it will be about $100 per person, but if you want to splurge on one really special meal - this is the place to do it. I gave the hostess a $20 and told her we'd really love a window seat. A "window seat" puts you right against the strip at night, looking directly down on the world famous Bellagio fountains. The whole restaurant features nice views, but nothing beats being by the window. They suggest men wear a jacket, I did when we went, but I saw many guys with just casual shirts and a couple even in shorts. No one seemed to bother them, but I played it safe with the jacket.
So, there are LOADS of places to eat, but the Eiffel restaurant is really special.
Then again, there's a place in MGM that is $300 per person (and NO I haven't been there)!

Well, David - the coaster is gone. Apparently they are making a better version. I liked the old one - lots of fun being 100 stories high on top of the tallest building west of the Mississippi - and being ON A COASTER! They do have three other rides up there (all much scarier than the coaster IMO). Two of them basically hang you over the edge of the building and do various things to you while you're there! The other is a launching BIG SHOT that blasts you straight up to the tippy top of the tower. Very cool for those who like rides! RE: Burger Brasserie - Renny loves the thin fries, but I'm a waffle fry guy myself. You can order a sampler of any 2 or 3 fry types for about 5 bucks. That's the way to go. The place is great, you choose your bun, your burger type and a seemingly limitless selection of toppings, from traditional grilled onions all the way to things like shrimp, crabmeat and you name it! You can also order the $777 burger (not kidding). I stick with the good ol' $10 burgers piled high with toppings ($1 each after the first one). Plus there are always sporting events on the many flat screen TVs around the place (and the hostesses wear short shorts ). PS - If you are a burger lover and you've never been to IN & OUT BURGER, you must go there as well. They are all over the place. Fast food, but freshly made. Incredibly good! They have several "secret" non menu items as well. Ask for the "Animal Fries" - a secret specialty!

John, as Renny and David mentioned, the Stratosphere tower has the absolute BEST view at night. It's only 10 floors shorter than the Empire State Building and it overlooks the Strip (and everything else in Vegas)! Plus there are rides at the top (see my other post). If you hit the Stratosphere you might want to try Roxy's 50's Diner which is within. A really fun place where each waiter or waitress is also a quite talented singer and they periodically sing 50's and 60's classics that are played by the in-house DJ! It's inexpensive and fun (and they make a nice ice cream soda)
