HELLO...

This is a special time in life for me...after many years in the business (decades, actually) I have a new album containing 19 songs, all of which I've written myself.

Including compilations and "greatest" packages, I've been on over 30 official commercial releases...yet this is the first time an entire album has contained only songs written by myself...no co-writers on anything. That alone (for me) makes this perhaps the most special album of my career. My next birthday will make me 61 years of age, so I guess some of the life experiences are creeping steadfastly into the lyrics and "basic themes" of the songs.

We worked very hard on this project, and after all these months I can honestly say that I've got exactly the album I wanted...perhaps more.

My friends the Carpet Frogs made the record much more than it would have been otherwise. The recording process has changed immensely since I started in the Sixties, yet the most basic component has remained the same...the songs...

I think that everyone will find something in this album that relates to their lives personally...the lyrics cover a lot of ground.

As a 13 year old in my first band in Winnipeg, I could never have imagined I would be one of the "lucky ones" whose career would stretch over so many years. For that I remain eternally grateful to fans and radio, both of which have enabled me to survive all this time in show business.

I'm including "DREAM" and "WE JUST CAME FROM THE U.S.A." and hoping that you will enjoy listening to these new songs ahead of my new album "ABOVE THE GROUND" which is released on November 4th.

Thank you all for helping me to arrive at this point in my life...

Good luck and good health to all...

Burton Cummings

I've been listening to the songs in progress on his MySpace page over the course of the last few months, and I'm really looking forward to this. He said there might be a US release for this, but doesnt know how he's going to do it as of yet.

This should be great, he's had a long time to stockpile material. 19 new Burton-written songs -- wow!

The album was finally picked up by New Door/UMe for release in America, and it will be coming out on May 25th. See the first post for updated details.
